Exhibition and Performance by Matt Jackson
Vrij- 8 – zo- 17 juli
Matt Jackson is a professional puppet and mask maker for theater, television and film with over 20 years experience. An American native but a local Den Bosch artist for four years. In his personal work he is walking the line between the theatrical use of objects, and their more ritualistic ancient origins. He believes the material used for an artwork has a strong influence on the audience and therefore works with natural materials such as wood, paper, organic glues, and clay. Matt hosts regular workshops in these techniques from Den Bosch and online.
This exhibition (sponsored by Cultuurfonds s’- Hertogenbosch) is an opportunity to create a complete environment born between the combination of his artwork and the spacious raw first floor of the Werkwarenhuis, a multidisciplinary arthouse.
The artworks will literally come to life during two site-specific performances. Working with dancer Kristien Sonnevijlle they will allow the exhibition to inspire what stories shall be told. A puppet previously sleeping may suddenly wake up as a floating mask appears from the hidden corners…
